Become a CAF pilot
First, speak to unit operations staff about suitability and requirements. This will prevent wasted time or money.
Prerequisites to flight training:
- Be a CAF national and unit member in good standing (join or renew)
- Pass the CAFR 60-1 training and quiz
- Enter the drug and alcohol program
- Request a hearing with the unit Flight Evaluation Board to obtain a transition letter to begin training
- Sponsor the aircraft – contact the finance officer
- This is a one-time (lifetime) aircraft-specific donation to CAF HQ
- Sponsorship amounts are listed in the unit manual at the end of section 6 (AT-19: $1500, as of March 2023)
- Pay the calendar year’s pilot fee (2023: $300)
Become an aircraft maintainer (or assistant)
